Cause 1: The "Dry Hit" – An Empty Tank?

The most obvious reason for a burnt taste is simply running out of liquid. The cotton inside your coil needs to be constantly saturated. If you vape your tank until it is bone dry, the coil tries to heat cotton that has no liquid in it. The result is instant burning.

Cause 3: Chain Vaping

Do you take several long puffs in quick succession? This is called "Chain Vaping," and it can kill coils quickly.

 

After every puff, your coil needs a few seconds to "re-wick" (absorb more liquid). If you vape faster than the cotton can absorb the juice, it will eventually dry out, leading to a burnt hit. 

The Fix:

Slow down. Give your device a 15-30 second rest between puffs to let the bubbles rise and the liquid soak back in. 

Cause 4: Sweetener Gunk - The "Caramel" Effect

Sometimes, a coil tastes burnt even if you have done everything right. This is often due to the e-liquid itself rather than a hardware fault.
